cotococha lodge

Explore the Amazon from a Luxury Lodge . . .

Cotococha Lodge (photos above) is an ecotourism lodge in the Ecuadorian Amazon region that works with Rainforest Alliance to minimize its impact on the surrounding environment. There are 22 spacious bungalows built in traditional Amazon style that blend with the incredible rain forest that surrounds it.

In addition to studying Spanish for 4 hours a day there are planned excursions and activities to keep you busy for the week, exploring the surrounding jungle, river, and local culture.

Some of the highlights . . .

  • Enjoy the luxury of this refined ecotourism lodge
  • Visit an indigenous community of the rainforest
  • Hike through the rainforest to a waterfall
  • Learn about the flora and fauna of the rainforest
  • Canoe on the river
  • Learn to make chocolate

Students leave Quito for Tena on Sunday, in order to spend the night there before continuing on to the lodge on Monday morning. After a week of classes and activities the program ends on Friday. From there you can either stay an extra night in Tena where you can enjoy white-water rafting or other activities, or return to Quito with your teacher.

At Cotococha Lodge all the bungalows are equipped with a private bathroom, a private veranda with reclining chairs or hammocks where you can relax and enjoy the sights and sounds of the Ecuadorian Amazon. Social areas are carefully decorated and offer all comfort and cosiness for an unforgettable stay in the Ecuadorian Amazon.

"What an amazing week - just like something out of National Geographic! Cotococha was wonderful and my teacher (V) was a great companion as well as teacher throughout the week. We saw so much I can't begin to describe it all!
